Getting Started
How do I get started with Avocado?
Download Avocado from the App Store and open the app. You'll see a large connect button on the home screen. Tap it to instantly connect to the fastest available server, or select a specific country from the globe icon. Your IP is now hidden and your connection is encrypted. Tap the button again to disconnect anytime.
Do I need to create an account?
No account, login, or email verification is required. Simply install Avocado and connect immediately. Your favorite server locations are stored locally on your device only—never on any server or cloud account. You start browsing privately within seconds of opening the app.
Which iOS versions does Avocado support?
Avocado requires iOS 14 or later and works on iPhone 6s and all newer models. To check your iOS version, open Settings > General > About and look for the iOS number. If your device is older than iOS 14, update to the latest version available for your device, then download Avocado from the App Store.
Features
How does the global server network work?
Avocado offers 50+ VPN servers across six continents. Tap the globe icon to browse servers by region and select your preferred location. Your connection routes through that server, making it appear as if you're accessing the internet from that country. You can switch servers instantly without disconnecting, allowing you to bypass geographic restrictions and access region-locked content.
Can I trust Avocado's encryption?
Absolutely. Avocado uses AES-256 encryption, the same standard used by banks and governments to protect sensitive data. Your connection uses IKEv2 protocol, one of the most secure and efficient VPN protocols available. All traffic from your device to our server is encrypted and unreadable to anyone monitoring your network, including ISPs and public WiFi operators.
What is Kill Switch and how does it protect me?
Kill Switch automatically blocks all internet traffic if your VPN connection drops unexpectedly. This prevents your real IP from being exposed during a temporary disconnection. When enabled, apps cannot reconnect to the internet until your VPN is re-established. You can toggle Kill Switch on or off in Settings based on your preference for maximum security versus occasional convenience.
Data
Does Avocado log or track my browsing history?
Absolutely not. Avocado does not track, log, or store the websites you visit, searches you perform, or apps you use. All activity remains completely private on your device. We only maintain connection timestamps for abuse prevention, which are automatically deleted after 30 days. Your browsing activity is yours alone and invisible to Avocado, your ISP, and any network observer.
How is my data backed up and restored?
Avocado stores all preferences (server favorites, connection settings) locally on your device using on-device encryption. There is no cloud account, cloud sync, or server-side backup. If you reinstall Avocado, you'll start with default settings. Your iPhone's standard iCloud or iTunes backup will include Avocado settings if you have device backups enabled in Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud.
What happens when I delete or uninstall Avocado?
All Avocado data stored on your device is deleted immediately upon uninstall. No data persists on Avocado servers beyond our standard 30-day connection log retention, after which it is permanently purged. Avocado leaves no trace on your device. You can reinstall anytime without recovering previous settings, maintaining complete privacy and control over your data.
Troubleshooting
Why does my connection feel slow while using Avocado?
VPN connections add small latency overhead due to encryption and routing. To improve speed: select a server closer to your location using the globe icon, check your WiFi signal strength, or restart your device. Avocado's infrastructure is optimized for speed, but distant servers may show measurable latency. Most users notice no practical difference in everyday browsing and streaming.
Avocado disconnected unexpectedly. What should I do?
Connection drops are rare but can occur when switching between WiFi and cellular networks. Simply open Avocado and tap Connect again—reconnection is instant. If drops occur frequently, try selecting a different server location or reboot your device. Check the App Store for updates to ensure you're running the latest version with latest stability improvements.
Some apps won't work while Avocado is connected. Why?
A few apps (some banking apps, certain games) block VPN traffic as a security or licensing measure—this is their restriction, not a problem with Avocado. Disconnect from Avocado temporarily to use those apps, or contact the app's support team to request VPN compatibility. The vast majority of apps work normally with Avocado enabled without any issues.
